  2. Overview Sound & Vision for CA-Clipper

  5. Sound & Vision provides complete support for graphical
  6. look-a-like Windows, sound cards and CD-ROM Drives. In
  7. just a couple of function calls you can change the entire
  8. look and feel of an application.
  9. Your programs will come alive. No more simple beeps! you
  10. can make any sound you want using a sound blaster card and
  11. the Sound & Vision library. Sirens, chimes and verbal
  12. commands make your programs more user friendly and responsive.
  13. Reveille when they sign in and taps when they sign out. You
  14. could even have a nuclear explosion if they crash the program!
  15. You're only limited by your imagination as to how sound will
  16. integrate into your applications. Support for Sound Blaster
  17. and Adlib is complete, so you can record sound as well as
  18. play it. It's possible to deliver voice messages, attach verbal
  19. notes to a customer record or create a complete voice mail
  20. system.

  22. With almost no overhead, Sound & Vision gives you the option
  23. of having a complete graphical interface on your application.
  24. Use buttons, sliders and listbox - just like Microsoft Windows,
  25. but much faster. Your interface can have mouse support, SAA/CUA
  26. menus, INI file management, moveable/sizeable windows and much,
  27. much more.

  30. of data available on CD-ROM marketing statistics, demographics
  31. and mapping/routing databases are a few of the thousands of

  37. Blinker - so it's lightning quick and as small as possible.

  50. Sound & Vision is the first library, which
  51. allows CA-Clipper programmers to play audio-CDs,
  52. .VOC and .WAV Files. You can have sound play in
  53. the foreground or background. Record from microphones,
  54. audio-CD or any other stereo or mono input. A replete
  55. CD-Player is included, complete with buttons to skip
  56. tracks, pause and control volume. To help you learn
  57. how to write MultiMedia code, we included full source
  58. code for the CD-Player.

  63. At the heart of Sound & Vision is a powerful object
  64. engine. Using this engine, you can create fully object
  65. oriented programs. Create your own classes, inherit
  66. from existing classes and define new methods. Source
  67. code is provided for all of the classes including:
  68. WindowClass, MenuClass, enhanced GetClass, ButtonClass,
  69. ScrollbarClass, ListClass and IniClass.

  72. SAA/CUA Windows:

  74. With Sound & Vision it's easy to create programs that
  75. have the look and feel of Microsoft Windows. Windows
  76. will automatically be sizeable and moveable with
  77. scrollbars and maximize/minimize buttons. The true
  78. windowing system supports icons, pushbuttons and
  79. spinners. Additional controls include radiobuttons,
  80. checkboxes and listboxes. You can even frame gets,
  81. outlines and scrollboxes to give them a 3D effect.
  82. SAA/CUA style pulldown/popup menus are included,
  83. accessible with the mouse, hotkeys, cursor or short
  84. cut keys.

  90. cursor - even in text mode. The cursor can be set to an
  91. hourglass while system processes are taking place.
